Enjoying Fall Colors

Fall Colors are arriving for many so I will share a special moment a few years back.

I was up in Maine enjoying the quiet fall, a peaceful lake, and the Fall Colors displayed in full beauty. God's Glory many would say. I went out for what I was sure would be the last paddle of the year.

It was a chilly day and the air had a cold bite to it, letting everyone know winter was on it's way.

All was still and the water mirrored the trees perfectly on this magical day.

As I found one of my favorite spots I saw a friend who gave out one of his beautiful calls to say Hi as he paddled over to join me. The Loon and I drifted together enjoying the moment and the awesome view. As we watched a few ducks slowly paddled past. The lake was calm and still with just a few of us still there.

We admired the tree's beautiful colors as they reflected on the still water. The rocks on the shore reflected magical mirror images. But mostly we enjoyed each others company one more time like we often did in summer.

Soon I would be wrapped up in a warm house watching the ice form on the coastal water outside and the snow falling all around. I would be keeping myself busy chopping wood and watching the fire.

My friend the Loon would be on his way flying far away south to a warm lake where he would enjoy winter friends. The true definition of Snowbirds.  But this day winter thoughts weren't on our mind. It was a special day reserved for enjoying the fall colors and the friendship we shared. We drifted together a long while just looking.

A cold mist began to fall as we said our Goodbyes for the season and wished each other safe travels and happy adventures. I paddled the long way back up the lake thanking the trees for their last display of the season. As I reached the dock the sky decided to join in too, with it's version of Fall colors. Equally as beautiful as the trees version. Yes, God's Glory in all ways.

Enjoy the fall colors everyone where ever you are.
