Dolphin Joy Rides Some days we see things we wouldn't expect.
Perhaps ... I'm simply realizing the over thinking reasoning skills us humans tend to use. So, today I happened to notice the Dolphin Amusement Park. There is no other way to see this than simply ... the Dolphins know how to have fun. They know how to enjoy life. They see an opportunity to express Joy and go with it. On the south Texas coast there are barrier islands with large waterways behind them. The giant ocean ships, often oil tankers and ships full of wheat, load up and head out to sea travelling through narrow breaks in the island. The Dolphins hang out there because the fishing is great as the tides channel the fish into these narrow waterways. Living in these channels has other benefits as well. Free Amusement park rides. That is if you're a Dolphin. (Don't try this in a kayak!)
The massive ships carefully crawl through the channel at a slow pace often escorted by tug boats on either side and behind in case they need help turning or stopping. So it's a steady, slow, predictable pace. The bough of the ships push or part the water as they travel through.
The perfect place to catch a wave. The Dolphins take advantage of this and Love Surfing the Waves every chance they get.
Some ships push the wave forwards. Other ships part the water and roll more to the side. Each ship has a slightly different wave flow. When they are pushing the water the Dolphins often run directly in front and leap high out of the water. When it parts more to the side they barrel roll sideways with the roll of the water. If two ships come through one after another there will be no Dolphins on the second ship as they all caught the first ride. They clearly leap at the opportunity when it arises.
Dolphins are a wonderful expression of Joy. They simply know how to have to have fun. They remind us to take time in our day to find what brings us Joy, to enjoy the ride. And what better way then surfing the waves at the bough of a ship with no concern what the ship is all about. May your day be just as filled with Joy.
