Ghost Crab visit
I was out walking on the shore yesterday and this guy waved me over to come join him. An old one eyed Ghost Crab. We sat outside his place. He looked me over and I looked him over. I tried not to stare at his missing eye, or his crooked teeth. And he avoided focusing on my missing teeth and wobbly knees. We just wanted to meet and hang out. Just two fellows crossing paths. We could have talked of war stories, our great adventures, our tragic losses. We could have shared our heroic wins, our great romances, perhaps the heart pounds who got away, ... but we didn't. Instead we just sat silently together. Our pasts weren't important today. We watched as the Sun slowly rose higher and began breaking the morning fog. Some White Pelicans flew past in a large V pattern travelling someplace far we thought. The wind blew gently and felt good. It would be another fine sun filled day. We hung out awhile enjoying the quiet time together. When I left I gave a wave and he nodded thanking me for stopping by and sharing the day. A fine day for sure.
